Another year has passed us by once more and we have left behind a year full of tragic events which happened around our world. Let us all hope that the next 12 months will see the return of smiles to children's face.
Caravanning and Camping in Australia is growing stronger with customers having to wait up to 3 months for new caravans. Motorhome sales have also increased over the past 12 months along with camper trailers and hopefully from this increase membership in clubs will continue to grow.
Membership in some clubs is declining due to the fact that members are growing older and not feeling up to towing caravans anymore. To arrest this problem we need to find ways of getting the younger caravanners to join our clubs and we must also make members with young families feed welcome and needed into our clubs. I am sure that a good many clubs around our world face this problem also.
Over the past 12 months our push having a CB channel for road travellers, we have now got many caravans over here with the "I 'm on CB Channel 18" stickers on the front and back of caravans and motorhomes. We are getting great feedback coming to us from truck drivers who now believe in what we are doing. We believe that by our efforts if we cab save I road accident between a truck and caravan per year then we are on the right track. I urge all countries to consider what we have done and maybe we can make channel 18 a campers, caravanners. & motorhome owners. I am sure that road safety is a major concern for all of us. Please give this idea some thought.
Our National Club has helped two very successful get together where members travelling around our country can come together, meet fellow members and make new friends.
We are now planning 3 of these events for the year 2002. One will be in Queensland as there will be one in South Australia and finally we will have one in Western Australia. If any members of clubs from around our world are planning to travel around Australia you are most welcome to join with us. I can be contacted on e-mail at briankellher@swift.net.au. Also please feel free to contact me if I can be of any help to you from over here.
At the time of writing this article we are busy packing to fly to Western Australia to attend the 11th National Caravan Rally which starts on December 28th where we will join with 500 caravanneres from around Australia and New Zealand, we will also be joined by a couple from Japan who are making their second visit to a rally over here.
To all our world wide family of campers, caravanners and motorhome owners I trust you enjoyed Christmas and have a really great New Year, with many safe travels and enjoyable camps.
