The 10th Asia-Pacific Rally will be held (in conjunction with the 36th Japan Autocamping Rally) for a period of four days, Thursday-Sunday, November 2-5, 2006, at Ryuyou Auto Camp in Iwata City of Shizuoka, Japan, organized by Japan Auto Camping Federation (JAC).
Ryuyou Auto Camp highly accredited with the five-star status assigned by JAC, is a middle-size campsite accommodating 45 camping cars and 27 tents.Each autocampsite has 45 pitches, each with a well-maintained lawn and its own sink. Three of those pitches are complete with water and sewage hook-ups. For housing the campers, five cottages with double beds, four trailer houses and four cottages with lofts. Cottages are equipped with kitchen, toilet, and bath, and fully supplied with microwave, rice cooker, tableware, bedding, and other everyday necessities.
Adjacent to the campsite is a rest house called Shiosai Ryuyou, which has a large public bath with outdoor radium bath, air bubble bath, and sauna. Komamba, a dining place with huge windows facing the waterfront, is also located in the rest house. Additionally, the campers can enjoy barbeques at the terrace that offers a nice open space. Shiosai Ryuyou also houses a shop that sells local specialties, which, for its great variety of fresh produce, has turned into a well-known spot for everyday shopping by both locals and visitors from neighboring towns. Overall, it is capable of offering excellent services for rally participants from overseas.
About 5 km away from the campsite, there is a nature learning center called Ryuyou Town Insect Observation Park, which offers unique nature observation s for each season and has many visitors each year from inside and outside of Shizuoka Prefecture. During the rally participants will have a chance to visit it by a rally tour.
Ryuyou Auto Camp has always shown its environmental awareness, for example, by obtaining the ISO certification on environment management. Such environmental actions taken by Ryuyou can be represented by Furyu ("wind dragon" in English), a wind power electric generator overlooking the campsite. This 100-m windmill is one of the biggest in Japan. Since its erection in 2003, Furyu has been consistently generating power using the wind from Enshu-nada Sea.
The campsite also provides access to a swimming pool as well as athletic and baseball fields in the adjacent park called Ryuyou Ocean Park. Those facilities enjoyed by both men and women, young and old alike, make Ryuyou Auto Camp one of the most popular campsites in Japan.
Ryuyou Auto Camp is situated between Kanto Region and Tokai Region, about 20 minutes from Hamamatsu Interchange or 25 minutes from Iwata Interchange on Tomei Expressway. Located near the mouth of Tenryugawa River, the campsite is only 5 minutes' walk from Enshu-nada Sea. It offers a fantastic environment for the 10th Asia-Pacific Rally surrounded by water of the river and the sea.
