Symposium on the Future of Autocamping and the Environment
Autocamping is growing as the people's favorite pastime and has evolved into an industry on its own. In the modern society, autocamping is closely related to environmental problems and other urgent issues concerning education, welfare, disaster prevention, recreation, and economy. To discuss how the autocamping should develop and improve in the 21st century in relation to these problems, an International Symposium on the Future of Autocamping and the Environment was held by Japan Autocamping Federation with the patronage of FICC on March 22, 2005 in Tokyo.
Mr.Lars Dahlberg, President of the Fédération Internationale de Camping et de Caravanning., gave a keynote speech "EU Eco-label for the development of Sustainable Tourism in Europe". Following the keynote a panel discussion was conducted by knowledgeable experts representing each field of the autocamping. The result of the discussion was incorporated into the Autocamper's Charter and declared at the closing of the Symposium by Mr.Kazuhiro Akase, Council Member of FICC, in order to be used as the future guidelines for autocamers.
